In a recent spotlight panel at FAN EXPO Boston, David Tennant said it would be difficult for his character to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a perfectly logical comment given that his beloved villain – Kilgrave, aka the Violet Man – was beheaded during the final moments of Jessica Jones The first season. If we know one thing about the MCU, it’s that anything is possible, even if it means Kilgrave returns to the franchise during the events of Daredevil: Born Again.
While the character is best known for being the primary villain of Jessica Jones, he has spent a long time inside the Daredevil legends. In fact, the character first appeared in reckless #4 Almost 60 years ago. Even better, the character recently had rivalries with the Fearless Man and Kingpin, who are the two leaders born again.
There has been increasing speculation that Daredevil (Charlie Cox) will appear in sound echo somehow. Based on the rumors you’d believe, there’s a rumor circulating that the Hell’s Kitchen guard could be on the lookout for other members of Netflix’s DefendersVerse: Jessica Jones. Here is where things can start together.
If Matt Murdock is looking for Jones for any reason, it’s probably an incredibly small plot point considering she’s not even reckless turns out. Like other Marvel properties, the story will likely carry over into the live action born again The series is currently in development.
If the series accurately adapts this comic, it means that Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) will reveal Daredevil’s secret identity and effectively destroy Murdock’s life. The idea of a secret identity also happened to be central to the plot in recent Marvel’s Satan’s Era The event, where Kingpin tried to reveal the real name of the hero again, even teamed up with the Purple Man to do so.
For laughs, let’s say Matt is looking for Jessica Jones because he knows she’s already dealt with a villain before. After all, even if Netflix shows were a multiverse tale and not in the “Prime MCU,” it still makes sense that the two characters have a history somewhere across the multiverse. Matt may be looking for Jessica to help him fend off the Violet Man and keep his secret identity. Or maybe after he finds Jessica, the purple guy comes out of his lair to wreak havoc again on Wilson Fisk’s behalf.
Either way, there’s room for the purple guy back, that’s for sure.
